The first painting in my element series, started on the night of the solstice 2014. It has some inspiration from Scandinavian and Slavic traditions that are deeply rooted in the earth, connecting to my ancestors. I wanted to conjure the feeling of the woods, the smells of moss and dirt, and the sense of crisp air on skin.
In it you can see the wood, the plants, the snow, all connecting to the bones of the earth, returning to stillness.
